Adding vibrance to a video clip
- Often times the color intensity of the shot will be off a little bit. Maybe the lighting conditions were washing it out. Now saturation is a common adjustment but there's a newer adjustment called vibrance which also includes saturation. However I like to refer to it as saturation version 2.0. Let me show ya. Now if we have a shot that's washed out we can attempt to fix it. This is a good example, tough light. Let's select that clip and we'll apply the traditional hue saturation. In this case as I increase saturation you see it very quickly starts to damage the shot, really starting to create color clipping and unwanted artifacts. That's just completely unusable so I'll throw it away. However if I apply vibrance it has a saturation slider that's very natural. And notice I can crank that up and get great rich color. Additionally the vibrance slider is going to favor the zones that need more color. In other words selective saturation. In this case it's boosting the clothing and the…
