Join Deke McClelland for an in-depth discussion in this video Actioning the creation of flat CMYK files, part of Photoshop CC 2015 One-on-One: Mastery.
- [Instructor] In this movie,…we're going to to add a few more steps to convert the image…to CMYK for commercial reproduction,…and to also save the image to yet a different folder…so that we preserve this original RGB image…complete with its smart objects and adjustment layer.…So the first thing you want to do…is make sure the Convert to prepress action is selected.…Then, go ahead and click on the record icon down here…at the bottom of the actions panel.…Now one way to convert an image to CMYK…is to go up to the Image menu, choose Mode,…and then choose CMYK color,…which is going to convert the image…to the working CMYK space.…
But that's going to produce an alert message or two…which an be a little bit irritating.…And so the better way to work,…at the least the way that gives you more control,…is to go up to the Edit menu and chose Convert to Profile.…Now, initially you may see a really odd preview…given the fact that by default…I'm converting from Adobe RGB…to my working space…which is once again Adobe RBG,…I shouldn't see anything happen onscreen,…
