659 Drawing a perfect snowflake in Illustrator

Hey gang, this is Deke McClelland.…Welcome to Deke's Techniques.…Now like it or not winter is coming and so I figured…what better time to explore how to create…the perfect snow flake.…Now this isn't exactly new territory for me,…back on October 18th of the year 2011…in Deke's Techniques number 71,…I showed you how to create a Halloween scare flake.…This might not look much like a scare flake,…whatever that is but it ends up looking like this,…which I think is a heck of a lot of fun.…But it got me thinking is it really all that accurate.…

I've never photographed a snowflake, I have photographed…some very tiny things, done a lot of macro photography…under water, I captured this bubble coral shrimp for example…which is about as big as a housefly so very very tiny…and I photographed some big things as well…such as the moon, but I've never captured a snowflake.…Now this is an actual photograph of a snowflake…from Dreamstime about which you can learn more…and get deals at dreamstime.com/deke.php.…And notice that we have all these spindly details…
