Join Deke McClelland for an in-depth discussion in this video 630 More kern-perfect, now with overlap, part of Deke's Techniques.
- In this movie, I'll show you at least one way…to continue our kern perfect logo,…but this time we'll be working with overlapping type.…So notice that the M doesn't fit the angle…of either of its neighbors, that is to say…the A or the exclamation point,…and yet we're still able to maintain the look…and feel of this tightly kerned logo,…and the text remains legible.…Alright, I'm going to create the M using the W,…and so I'm going to start things off by combining…all the paths together, and so I'll first go ahead…and marquee them, and you could group 'em together…if you wanted to, but a better way to work…where this particular effect is concerned…is to go to the window menu and choose the pathfinder…command in order to bring up the pathfinder panel.…
And then, as opposed to clicking on the unite button,…which is going to permanently fuse all those paths…together like so, so I'll go ahead and undo that change.…Rather than clicking on this icon,…press the alt key here on the PC or the option…key on the Mac and click and that will go ahead…
