498 Correcting shadows with Dehaze

- Hey gang, this is Deke McClelland.…Welcome to Deke's Techniques.…This week I'm gonna show you what…I consider to be a little-known use…for the de-haze option that's now part of…Camera Raw and Lightroom.…But rather than removing the haze from a scene,…we're gonna take this just gorgeous photograph…right here, which unfortunately suffers…from washed-out shadows,…and inconsistently washed-out shadows as well,…and we're gonna restore the heft…to those shadows in order to create…this perfectly balanced photograph here.…Let me show you exactly how it works.…

Alright, so, for those of you who have never…encountered de-haze before, you typically see it…used to remove the haze from a scene.…So for example, we've got this cloudy scene right here.…Now, I don't really care about this image,…so I'm not gonna bother to convert it to a smart object.…I'm just gonna go up to the Filter menu…and choose Camera Raw Filter.…And then I'll switch over here to the fx icon.…And you can see, right here at the top…of the panel, is de-haze.…
