The Premiere Elements Clip Monitor is a tool for previewing and even pre-trimming your video and audio files before you add them to your timeline. The program also includes tools for automatically turning a longer clip into shorter sub-clips.
- [Steve] Often you've got a very long video clip,…but you only wanna use a short segment of it in your movie,…or you wanna take a long clip,…and then use it as several short segments.…The Clip Monitor is a separate monitor,…and you can use it for previewing clips…that are in your Project Assets panel,…or you can use it to pre-trim a clip…before you add it to the timeline.…So, for instance, if you've got an especially long clip,…and you wanna only use a short segment of it,…this Clip Monitor can be an invaluable tool.…Now, you can open the Clip Monitor…by double-clicking on a clip…that's already on your timeline,…or in the Project Assets panel.…
You often use this just to preview the clip.…Double-click on it,…and it opens the monitor,…and we can just watch the clip here.…You notice that there's a blue overlay over the timeline,…this represents the live area of the clip,…so if I were to drag this right…from the Clip Monitor to my timeline,…I would get the full 1:26 of this clip.…But this clip is made up of several short clips,…
