Working with color can be an amazing journey, and in Photoshop CS4 for Photographers: Creative Color, Brooks Institute of Photography professor Chris Orwig teaches a different way to create great color in photographs. He demonstrates adjusting color and tone to make images more vivid, changing colors, working with color saturation, cross processing, and more. (relaxing music) (camera shutter) - Hey, welcome. My name is Chris Orwig, and I'm gonna be your host and guide on this training adventure. I'm a photographer, and I'm a teacher. I'm on the faculty of the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California, where we are right now, and it is a beautiful winter morning this morning. You know, there's something amazing to me about color. What we're gonna do is talk about how we can work with colors in Photoshop from a photographic perspective.

What I mean by that is we're gonna talk about how we can work with color in order to create images of impact. What exactly are we gonna cover in this training title? We're gonna cover a wide range of topics, but just to illustrate, have you ever looked at a photograph and said, "How did they create those engaging, "compelling, vivid, lifelike colors?" We're gonna deconstruct how you can create vivid colors in your own photographs. We'll also talk about how we can saturate our photos and how we can do some advanced saturation techniques. That's not all we're gonna do. We're gonna go to the other side of the spectrum and take a look at how we can remove color and then perhaps tone our images or add a cross-processing effect.

We'll also take a look at how we can change colors, or for that matter, create maybe an edgy color and tone effect. We're gonna cover all of this and more, and my hope is that, throughout this training title, that you'll pick up a handful of tips and tricks, a lot of information, yet even more, that you'll be inspired, that you'll pick up a ton of inspiration for how you can work with color and how you can make your photographs come to life by understanding how color works and by understanding how you can work with color in order to create more compelling photographs. We have a ton of ground to cover, so without further delay, let's begin.
