A solution for creating dynamic black-and-white images
- So, how'd you do? Hopefully, you got a great looking image. Now black and white is very subjective and free to artistic interpretation. But here's how my image turned out. As you can see, there's some great contrast in here, and I'll share with you the process that I used to unlock it. With this particular photograph, it all came down to getting the exposure right. To do this, I took advantage of the auto-adjustment on light and I used levels with an auto-adjustment just to make a few improvements. Now that was pretty subtle, but what I did is brought in the black point and the white point to get crispness. And then refined the mid-tones a little bit there to open up the shadows on the treads. That looked really good and then I brought out the contrast and just pushed the shadows and the highlights in opposite directions. Then, color contrast was useful.
