- In order to get the most out of Photos for OS X, 1st off, you need to be running OS X. More specifically, you need to make sure you have a current version of OS X Yosemite, or later, installed on your computer. Now, this is a free application, so as long as your computer is up to date, and can run the latest OS, you'll be able to get the most out of this application. Now, ideally you have some experience working with photos already. Not Photos the app, but images in general. If you've used iPhoto before, or Apple Aperture, you're gonna be in great shape.
I'm gonna make a lot of analogies as we work with these tools, and show you how many of the adjustments might seem similar to ones you already know. But if you're starting from the ground up, don't worry, this is a great fast start look at getting the most out of the application when it comes to specifically enhancing your images to look their best. This is an excellent follow on training for the essential training series here on lynda.com. Or if you just wanna focus on image adjustments, you've come to the right place. In any case, make sure you have a good, solid foundation of working with material on your computer.
Now, I'm gonna give you several photos that are in a library, ready to use, but if you don't have access to the exercise files, which we'll talk about more next, you can use your own images, just make sure you're comfortable getting images into the computer, and that you're familiar with basic computer operations like using a mouse and launching applications, and navigating through Windows. Alright, let's talk about the hands-on files.
