- We're going to work with video for a little bit, and it's very fun in this application. I have a memory card inserted right now, and I'm going to bring in a video into Photos for OS X. Now, you can bring everything in at once if you wanted, or in my case, I just want to bring in this one video. And I can tell it's a video by that badge right there. So I'm going to click on it, select it. These are still photos with JPEG forward on them. The little shadow behind them means that there's a raw file also.
All we want is the video because that's what we're going to be working on for the next little bit. So I'm going to choose Import Selected, that video comes in. Now, the video is going to be in my Container library, and I know that because under my Preferences, Copy items to the Photos library. So the video's going to be inside. It's in Last Import, but let's take you over here, I want to show you something new.
We now have a new album called Videos. So Photos for OS X automatically recognizes video and then will create an album for you, so you don't have to search through all of your pictures to find your videos, just go to the Videos album. And by the way, we have a Screenshots album here, too. This is when you take screenshots on one of your devices, any of your devices. The application recognizes screenshots the same way it recognizes videos, and will create an album for you with those also, so if you're wondering what that is, these are screenshots.
But we're playing with video right now, so let's go to Video. Let's go ahead and open it up. Now if I mouse over, you'll see that it actually will play live. Isn't that cool? Just like that. And I can make my thumbnail bigger by sliding. I see that it's a video by the icon also, and then I also have the length of time for a video. So we have our video safely inside our Photos for OS X application right now, so let's see what kind of things we can do with it.
Stay tuned.
