Finalizing the black-and-white image with definition and sharpening
- Previously, we've taken a look at definition, but we're going to dig a bit deeper into this command, as well as the sharpening command. To do this, let's reprocess a new photo and do a custom black and white conversion, but this time we're going to pay particular attention to the smaller details. Let's go here to this image that has a lot of destruction in it, and what I want to do is really bring things out. We'll start with the edit menu, and we'll click auto for the light and auto for curves, and that definitely helps with the overall contrast. Now, we can enable the black and white conversion and draw through until we find a good point where we like the dynamic range. That looks pretty good. And we can bring up the intensity of the effect and the tone. But what I really want to do is improve some of these small details here. Let's zoom in, and we see all of these rocks and pieces of shattered plaster, as well…
