What is a loupe and when do you need one?

- I'm up at High Line Park in New York City just capturing some vignettes, some photos of the city itself. And it's a little bit of a light overcast day, thin overcast so it's not super bright, but it's still bright enough that it's getting a little bit difficult to review my images, the histogram on the LCD display. Now I'm certainly an advocate for not reviewing too much on that LCD display, but from time to time I want to check my exposure with the histogram, I want to double check my composition, maybe even zoom in on my preview image and evaluate sharpness. I do like to check things periodically, just to make sure I'm getting what I intend to get. Well fortunately there's an easy way to make sure that I can get a very good view of that LCD display, and that's by using a loop to review that display. If you've never used a loop to look at your LCD on the back of the camera, I recommend you try it. It really makes a very, very big difference. This is a Hoodman loop. There are a…
