- Let's talk about migration, which is never fun, but it's the process of moving. Now, some of you may love the process of moving. It's an opportunity to see and explore new things. But the older you get, the more moving really starts to not be a lot of fun. And if you have a large photo library, it can be a real drag. But let's talk about some of the options. The first option to explore is what happens if you decide to move, but not really move? And what I mean by this is two parallel paths. Rather than moving to a new home, you get a second home, so you keep everything in the old version of Lightroom, which is fine, you leave it there. It works, it's organized. And then you move some stuff or new stuff into the new version of Lightroom. You'll see later that it's possible to actually export just an individual collection or photos that you select as a new catalog from the old version of Lightroom, and move that to the new Lightroom.
