- I was walking along, and you probably can't see it right now, because high dynamic range situation, but there's some trees up here and a kind of interesting roof line, and a cool little weathervane, and I started taking some pictures of it, and came up with some nice silhouette things, and I was liking them, but my enthusiasm was not much more than about where it's at right now. I found myself, I went into my head, and I started thinking, "I'm taking pictures of a roof. "What am I doing?" (laughs) "Is this a dumb thing to be taking a picture of?" I was teaching a workshop recently with the photographer Keith Carter, and he was showing some of his images at one point, and he showed a picture that he'd taken, I don't even remember exactly what it was, I think it was in the bayou somewhere with some trees and some water, and he said, "Here's some trees and some water." And then he paused for a moment, and then he said, "Why not?" And those two words, "why not," have really been…
