In this week's episode, Steve Simon talks about a variety of images united by the theme of street portraits.
- [Steve] In your chance encounters…with strangers on the street and your camera,…there's not a lot of time to react.…Hi, I'm Steve Simon, and welcome to a brand new edition…of Photo Critique of the Week.…And this week, I'm just going to show you a couple…of portraits, street portraits, if you will,…that I took in Chicago where the light was really nice…and the subjects were, I thought, very beautiful…to be able to photograph.…So, you know, again, when I go up…to a stranger on the streets,…I usually have something I'm going to ask them,…but it's not, can I take your picture?…Because that's too easy, a yes/no answer.…
I'm going to see if they would talk with me a sec,…and then I have my elevator pitch,…hi, I'm a street photographer, I'm doing this stuff,…the light is beautiful, I love your hair,…whatever it is, to get them to agree.…And I will offer them photos,…if they want they can email me…and I'm happy to send it to them.…And for the most part, I have a success ratio upwards…of probably about 85%.…And the people that I think are not going to stop stop…
