Smartphone basics: Dual lenses
- Earlier I talked about how one of the disadvantages of the smartphone is that you don't have interchangeable lenses. With a full-size camera you can put different lenses on there but with a smartphone you can't do that. However, if you have one of the newer, more modern, more higher end smart phones, you may have one that has dual lenses, like this iPhone X does. The dual lenses will give you a wide or normal field of view and also a longer more telephoto field of view. Now, it's not gonna be a long telephoto like you'd get on a proper camera, but it will be a tighter more close in shot. And this isn't just about getting close to your subject. There's something called lens compression, where if you have a really wide field of view, you get more of the background than you would if you had a longer more telephoto type lens. So by using a camera phone with a dual lens and using that longer lens on there, you'll be able to get a view that will eliminate more of the background, giving…
