- When it comes to photography we often need to add additional light to our scene. Now if you're using a full-size camera, you can use strobes or LEDs. However, when you're using a smartphone, you can only use LEDs. And, hey, guess what? Your smartphone probably has an LED light built into it, but don't use it, at least not as an on camera flash. Let's take a look at this setup here. If I take this picture with a flash, you can see right away that this is really not ideal. The light is just too harsh, and it's coming from the same direction as the lens. This almost never looks good. Now, that said, you can actually use the light on your smartphone as an LED light source if you just wanna move it around to the other side and get a slight angle to that light. But this is gonna require two phones. One to light the scene and then another one to take it. Just don't rely on taking a picture with your smartphone with its own built-in light.
