- Hard drives are just like light bulbs. Eventually they're going to burn out and fail. And just like light bulbs, they can be replaced inexpensively. If you think about a bar of light bulbs, maybe four of them, and one of them burns out, there's still enough light to see by. You replace that bulb and everything still works. You can still see. Same things with hard drives and protected storage. It's really important to set up a backup strategy that protects against all of the ways that hard drives can fail. They are the most cost effective way of storing our data, and since that's the case, they're what we're using as our standard. Once we know their failure points, we can counteract them by proactive backup strategies. 321 backup is our best bet to make sure that our data is always available for all of the times that we want to use it.
