In order to get a good exposure with your Sony mirrorless camera, you need to ensure accurate metering. Most of the time, your camera will get it right, but you can switch metering modes to help it out. Author Richard Harrington describes what long-time exposure (BULB) is and how to use it to control your Sony mirrorless camera’s exposure.
- Sometimes you may find yourself shooting…in a lower-light environment,…and while of course you can do things…like bump up the ISO or open up the aperture,…it may not match the shooting style that you're going for.…There are benefits to shooting with lower ISO:…less noise and grain, and sometimes you have a scene…like this real estate environment,…where you want a lot of depth of field…so people can see all the detail.…In this case, what we have to rely on is the shutter speed,…and for the ultimate control in shutter speed,…there's a special mode called bulb mode.…
What happens here is essentially it allows you…to keep shooting over a continuous time…to capture a shot for as long as you need.…Now my suggestion is put the camera in manual mode.…Once it's in manual mode,…dial in the aperture that you want to shoot with.…This will be dictated by the scene that you're capturing.…In the case of this environment,…I'm going to want to get enough detail and depth…in the scene with lots in focus.…Then dial in an ISO.…
