- [Instructor] When I talk about flattering light for video conference calls there are two elements that I'm referring to. One is that it's diffused, right? There aren't a lot of harsh shadows or hot spots. And the second is that it's coming from the front. All right, because that is the most flattering light. What happens is when you get away from that into something like this, here the light's coming from the side, but not enough from the front. And you can see how, you know, my features don't look as flattering here, not to mention that I'm out of focus 'cause the camera doesn't have enough light to work with. So that is what we want to stay away from. We see that a lot on calls but we want to stay away from that. So how do we get to that nice diffused light? Well, I like to have some translucent material between me and the bulbs. So I got two fluorescent bulbs in here that are daylight balanced, and I got a nice piece…
