Lens nomenclature

- Like most camera vendors, Fuji includes a lot of letters and numbers in their lens names. You can find them, actually, on the inside of the lens ring in the front. But you'll also see them when you're shopping for a lens. They're going to be listed in product descriptions and things like that. First, of course, will be the focal length and aperture. That stuff's pretty easy to understand. But scattered about the description will be some letters. X means that it's a lens with an X mount, meaning that it will fit on any X-series camera that supports removable lenses. X also shows up in the name of the sensor inside of this camera, the X-Trans. F means fine, indicating it's part of Fuji's premium lens line. C stands for compact or casual, and it's the opposite of F. You will not find an FC lens. LM indicates a linear motor, which is the motor that drives the autofocus system. The linear motor is known for its speed and silence. It's a very quiet motor. OIS stands for optical image…
