- Now the controls on each lens will vary greatly, depending upon the price point. Let's start with a complex lens here like this long 70 to 200 millimeter telephoto. As you learned about earlier, I see the control for auto-focus versus manual, but we also have some control here on the range. Is it focusing over the entire range or a smaller portion? And this particular lens includes Vibration Reduction or Image Stabilization, as well as a Still and Active mode. For example, this particular lens is designed to be handheld; it's great for shooting sports and closeups. As such, it will reduce the vibration by using a series of inside mechanics. The Active mode is for shooting from a moving platform like a vehicle, and the other one is if you're just shooting handheld standing still. Now most controls on a lens will vary.
