Learning rhythm from magazines

- I don't get to read a lot of magazines just 'cause there's still so many books left to read. But I really love a well-made magazine. About the only time I get around to them is when I'm traveling. I read a lot of magazines on planes and trains. So when I'm at the plane station, I usually like to try to find myself a good motorcycle magazine to take on the plane and one of the reasons I like reading magazines in that context is I got nothing else to do but sit in that chair, that chair that's too small, and work the magazine the way it's supposed to be read which is from cover to cover in order, not flipping around. And when you do that, if you kinda pay attention to the experience that you're having, you can learn a lot about narrative and rhythm. Some lessons that I think are really valuable for photographers when they come to trying to set up a body of work in a particular order to make a presentation or a gallery display of some kind.
