- When it comes to photographing really small objects, like jewelry or flowers or anything else really little that you wanna get pictures of, there's a number of technical challenges. First and foremost is the camera itself. A smartphone simply can't focus closely enough to get a really good macro shot. Sure, there are add-on lenses, like this one here and we'll take a look at it, that will allow you to get closer, but it's just not the same. The image quality isn't there, you can't get as close, the lens isn't as long, as zoomed in, and the edges tend to get a bit blurry with these things. So it's better than nothing, but it's definitely not ideal. In an ideal world you're looking at a camera with a macro lens on it. Now a macro lens is designed to get really, really close to your subject, so you can get really beautiful, super close-up photos.
