- This week on the Practicing Photographer, I'm going to do something really embarrassing. I've really been kind of dreading this one, but I think this is something I need to do. I'm always surprised in workshops and classes when students come back and they say, I only got five good pictures today. And, I'm surprised because I just assumed by now that everyone understands that you have to take a whole lot of pictures to get even a handful of keepers. But plainly everyone doesn't understand that, so I'm going to go in here, and demonstrate this in kind of the most extreme way that I can think of. I have a shoot here that I shot in May of 2015. I went to Death Valley. So we're just going to go through it here, and look at what I did, and I think you're going to see that for the most part, I took a bunch of really bad pictures.
