Flashes and strobes

- Now let's talk about flashes, or strobes. This is a simple, on-camera flash. We've all seen them before and they're made by pretty much every camera manufacturer for every camera out there. A flash is an incredibly, incredibly bright light source. Compared to LEDs, this puts out a massive amount of light. The problem is, though, that by design, you're supposed to put it on top of your camera, which, honestly, is gonna give you about the worse light setup you can imagine. This light, directly coming from the camera itself, is almost never gonna be pretty. So what we can do though, is modify this very, very easily by simply rotating it and pointing it in different directions. What we're gonna do here is take a series of photos in the exact same position. I'm gonna leave the camera on the tripod. Our stand in model, Betty, here is not gonna move. She's gonna be in the exact same spot. And I'm just going to adjust the lighting by tilting and rotating and otherwise modifying this light…
