- A camera strap can be an important accessory for the photographer in large part just to help make sure that you don't accidentally drop your camera. When it comes to camera straps, though, there are many different styles available. One option you might consider is what's referred to as a glide strap. This is the Custom SLR Glide Strap, for example. And one of the things I like is that the attachment for the camera is separate, so I can screw this base onto the camera itself and then attach the camera to the strap so that I now have a camera safely attached, but this is a unique strap in that, number one, it's not going very far and so I can let it hang freely and as I move around hands free, I don't have to worry about that camera going very far and bumping into things. But also, there is a glide element to this strap. The camera can glide right up the strap itself so that I can easily bring the camera up to eye level.
