- [Steve] You know, having a preconceived idea for heading to a shoot can be really useful and sort of set you on the right course. Hi, I'm Steve Simon, a passionate photographer. And welcome to a new edition of photo critique of the week. This week, we're going to look at the work of Ed Yiu. Now Ed was a recent participant in a workshop I did in Tokyo, Japan. And what was interesting about Ed's approach to the various places that we visited was that he would go to a place, have kind of an instant reaction, and then kind of follow a template for shooting that particular place. So for example, in the Ginza area of shopping area, he got the idea of you seeing all these bags, these bags come by, via shopping bags, or you know, fancy bags that women were carrying, and messenger bags. So he thought, that's what he noticed, that was something that he made the determination this was a good representation idea for this area and that's what he focused his cameras on.
