Join Chris Orwig for an in-depth discussion in this video Creating and naming a project, part of Up and Running with Photoshop Fix.
- Let's begin by taking a look at how we can create and name a new project inside of Fix. The first thing we obviously need to do, is to launch the application, so here I'll tap on the icon for Photoshop Fix. This will take us to the application, and here you can see we have this grid, or thumbnail view, of the projects which I have already created. Well, how do we create a new project? How do we bring in our images so that we can begin to work on those? To do that, it's as simple as tapping on the "+" icon, which is located on the left-hand side over there in the middle.
When we tap on that, it takes us to area where we can choose the source or the image that we want to bring in. You can see we have a number of different categories here, we can bring in files from my iPad, I could take a picture with the camera, or bring in files from other sources as well. I'm going to go ahead and tap on the icon for Lightroom. I use Lightroom desktop, and I sync that with Lightroom mobile, and these are some collections which I've uploaded to Lightroom mobile. I'm going to tap on one of those collections, and then just go through here, and then I'll just tap on one of these images, and then swipe around a little bit to try to find a photograph to work on.
Now, in this view, you can use those gestures which allow you to zoom in and zoom out. You can use the two-fingered gestures of pinching or position where you're moving your fingers apart. This is the photograph that I want to work on, so I'm going to tap on the icon, Open File, and this will bring it over to Fix, and then it will actually take us to the area where we have access to all of our tools and controls. We'll talk about all of those later, for now, though, let's just look at how we can begin to work with this particular project. If we want to go back to the view where we have all those thumbnails, that grid-view, we're going to tap on the icon in the upper-left-hand corner, it's a little arrow.
I'll go ahead and tap on that, and that brings us back to this area where we can view all of the projects. Now currently, this project is just called "New Project." I want to rename that one. To rename a project, what you do is just tap on the name there, it opens up the name dialogue, and I'll give this one a new name. I'm going to call this "Jessica," and then tap "OK," and here you can see we've now successfully imported in a photograph, we've created a new project, and also renamed it. That's really essential, because you want to manage all your projects, because eventually you're going to have a lot of them, and as you go through these, having good names for those will just help you find them that much more quickly.
