- If you've watched my Foundations of Photography: Black and White course, you know that one of the great things about working in black and white, is that you get to choose what tone of grey you want any particular color in your image to be. In that course we walked through several different methods for doing conversions from color to greyscale, to black and white. If you are a Lightroom user, then you are probably used to doing black and white conversions, at least I hope you're used to doing black and white conversions, using the black and white control over here. This set of controls right here, gives me a default recipe for black and white, and then a lot of great, refined control for toning particular colors in exactly the way that I want. I can also do the same thing in Photoshop, using a black and white layer. However, the controls are different.
