Chapter introduction

- This chapter is all about lighting. Photography is quite literally the recording of light. When you're recording light, you're also recording shadows, and when you start to think about lights and shadows, you can really start to build out an interesting dynamic scene. Picture this, you've got a product set up and you have a nice set, and everything about it looks really, really good but if you don't think about the lighting, if you just have very uninspired, generic lighting on it, that picture may as well just be a snapshot. But as soon as you look at the exact same set up with some really interesting, deliberate, dynamic lighting, the scene takes on a whole new life. Now what that lighting is, is gonna change on the scene. It might be really nice soft even lighting. It might be really hard lighting with hard shadows. There may be parts of the scene that are completely invisible due to shadow, or super blown out because it's super bright. It doesn't matter, whatever it is, as you…
