Autofocus basics

- Your camera offers many different ways to autofocus.…Now, there are a couple of important options…to be familiar with.…Some lenses will actually have an autofocus setting…on the side of the lens,…and it's important that you take advantage of this.…For example, with this macro lens here,…you'll see that I have to specify the range for focus.…Am I using this as a full-length…and I want to be able to go from five meters to infinity?…Or am I doing extreme close-up work,…all the way down to 1/2 a meter or even 0.28 meters?…You'll see that there's different settings here…depending upon what you're trying to focus on.…

So this particular lens is designed…for extreme close-up work,…and that's why I have this setting for autofocus.…Additionally with this particular lens,…if I pop it in or out,…it's going to switch between manual focus and autofocus,…so it's important you get familiar.…Other lenses are going to be similar.…The professional lenses have lots of options…on the side here.…So you'll see the ability for things like steady shot,…
