- Here we have the famous willow tree at Lake Wanaka. During sunrise, again, there weren't any high clouds and there was a big line of photographers so I couldn't get close and I wasn't sure what I was going to do. And as the sun started to rise, light hit the tree and then I knew instantly. So this was taken with a 55 to 200 to zoom in and really highlight that light hitting the tree. Now, I really want to show you why the polarizer is so essential, and I consider it to be so valuable that I have it on every single lens that I use. And when I come into a situation, I usually start with the polarizer, see the effect, and sometimes I take it off, but it's always ready, and this is why. What you see here is an image that is polarized. I'm going to show you an image taken one second later from the same exact scene with no polarization. What do we see here? A lighter blue sky and we don't see any of the light hitting the tree, it's just so bland. On the left we have no polarizer, on the…
