After I created this photograph, I knew that there is more work to be done. More pictures to be made. One of the little guys, one of the boys, liked working with my camera. So at one point, I handed it to him, and here he is taking a photograph of his family. And he became my sidekick of sorts and we had a lot of fun taking pictures of different things, of his family, sometimes of each other. And one of the things that this did for me is it created a bridge to his family. It helped me to create photographs I couldn't have otherwise captured, because in a sense, he really was a collaborator. He was on my side. It was a connection point. Well, we started to make some pictures and I knew that I need to make something happen. When you're working with a family, you have to provide some direction. You have to bring people together. So I asked the dad and his boys to walk over to the end of the pier with their instruments and play a song. Remember, previously it was just the dad and the two…
