Join Justin Reznick for an in-depth discussion in this video Challenge 4: Use a filter to make a creative shot, part of 5-Day Photo Challenge: Landscapes.
- In today's challenge we're really gonna push the limits. We've been focusing on an iconic landscape with a wide angle lens, let's move past the wide angle lens. Let's move past a medium telephoto and put on a long lens. Now, that's something in the 70 to 200, 300, even 400 range and what we're gonna do is just forget about that iconic shot and we're gonna look for something intimate, something abstract, something so incredibly unique.
Now, as a workshop instructor this is the hardest thing I have to teach my clients is to really focus on one thing that catches your eye. And that's what I want you to do. So, what we're gonna do is use a long lens, make sure you have a polarizer on to see the effects, whether you wanna use it or not, and I want you from your iconic location to take three images with your long lens. And I guarantee those three images will be unique and will be yours. Now, I'm gonna show you a couple examples from my portfolio so you get an idea of what an intimate or abstract image is.
And then, go for it. With those images in mind, now it's your turn. In the next movie I'm gonna share with you the three images I was able to create with the long lens that are completely unique and completely mine.
