The greeting card capability in iPhoto is terrific. And I'm going to show you in this movie how to make one to purchase from Apple. And then in the next movie I'm going to show you how to make your own that you can print out at home. So it's all good stuff. Let's get started. I'm going to make a greeting card with this image right here. So I make sure that it's selected. Then I go to the Share menu. And then I go right up to Card. Now, iPhoto actually brings us into a whole new interface here. This is like having a different application within iPhoto, a design application.
And we have three different types of cards. We can make letterpress cards, which are very nice, high quality. We can do folded cards, which are more of the standard what you would see in the Hallmark aisle of the store. And then we can do flat cards, which are just, you know, basic two-sided cards. So we'll go ahead and work on a flat card right now. And you have different categories to choose from. A lot of them are holiday-oriented. I usually go right down to Whimsical.
And I like this guy right here. So I like the photo corners, maybe because I'm a traditional photographer. And right away, you can make some color choices for it. Very nice, we'll go with kind of the, the beige color. And we're ready to go, so I say, let's create this thing. So we have two sides here, and we're looking at the front side right now, and then we have some options. So I'm going to click on the Options button, and then I just have to click on an area to see those options.
For instance, I can apply some effects to the photo. I can also scale it a bit if I wish. For the back side here, I have some choices in terms of type. So I'll just do a title. And we'll just do, please come visit. I also have some layout options. Which is very nice. And then if I want, I can add more photos to this project. The way that works is, that we've actually created a project down here, called Fall Color Card.
And I can add more photos to the project right now by clicking on Photos. We see that we have one photo in here. We'll go up here to the Events. We'll go to Fall Color. I'm going to add one more photo to my card project. All I have to do is just find it, drag it, drop it in there. Now I come back to my card project and I go over here to Photos. There it is. So, if I wanted to, I could change out the photo. Just by dragging and dropping. Okay, I think we're ready to go. I have this the way that I want. If I wanted to do any additional changes I can always come back and play with this later on.
Now all I have to do is click on Buy Card, and it uses your iTunes sign in. Now one thing that you'll see, is that the card is not very expensive, $0.99, but the shipping is $2.49. So you probably want to order more than one card at a time, it just makes economic sense. Once you've made your decision, and decided okay, let's just go with a dozen cards. Now, that makes more sense. Then you just click the Check Out button, and within a few days, you will receive in your mailbox, your homemade, well_designed and beautiful cards, directly from iPhoto.
