- All right well we got to Brighton beach and you know Brighton beach was a little of the beaten track, but it was an interesting place to shoot. It got really dark really fast. We got there, the sun had already set. There was a moon, so there was some moonlight coming. You know one of the first things I do when I get to a scene, when I have the time, is to check the white balance. And usually I would do that going into Live view, going into Kelvin, and then just eyeballing the Live view screen to get me close. I'm shooting raw and it's really essential I think for us night shooters to be in raw, just because if we are off with the white balance we can tweak it without any consequence, we're not degrading the image. But for me, white balance is more of a creative choice. And sometimes I like the blue that you get when you have the white balance over more toward the tungsten side in this kind of situation. But I'm tweaking it a little bit as we move. And I'm also shooting at a high…
