- If you ever get the chance to photograph at night around water, it's definitely something you should explore because water is such an interesting element. Whether you're in the day time or at night. But when you're photographing at night, water can take on these really interesting qualities due to a couple of things. One is the length of your exposure time. So if there's any moving water, it's just gonna be ... That motion is not gonna show. So if you had a river, it's gonna be rendered as this interesting silky blur. If you have the ocean, the waves are all gonna be blurred into kind of a misty haze. It looks really cool. This is primarily a pretty still water surface right now. There's a little bit of wind coming in, little bit of wind ruffling the surface, but even that is not gonna show up during a long exposure. So I really love photographing water at night because of the way it's transformed. It's rendered in a way that I cannot experience it just by looking at the scene. And…
