- Hey everybody. Welcome to day five of the street photography challenge. I may have saved the most challenging one yet for day five. And that is for you to go up to a stranger, someone you don't know, and convince them to allow you to take their portrait. Now I know for some of you it's not going to be an easy thing. Probably when you were a kid your parents said don't talk to strangers, and here I am encouraging you do so. Because in my experience as a street photograher, whenever I've done that, I've more often than not come away, not only with a great photograph, but also a great interaction and kind of a great life experience.
So I'm going to give you two quick tips that are going to make it a little easier for you. I've put out everything I know on how to take a street posed portrait in my Lynda.com course on street posed portraits. So check that out. That's going to help you in a big way. And the other thing is, I've decided to choose a venue like a park, because, you know the vibe of a park people are more relaxed. And when you go to a stranger here in a park, my experience is that, you know, they're more willing, they're not in a big hurry to, not only speak and engage with you, but really allow you to take their picture.
Hey, you might ask a few people and they say no. Don't give up because I'm going to be watching to see what you come up with. I can't wait to see it. And in the next movie, you'll get to see my solution to this challenge. So get out there and great shooting.
