- Welcome to day three of the Five-Day Street Photography Challenge. Today's challenge, I'm going to take the pressure off just a little bit. Your challenge is to use a longer telephoto lens to isolate your subject on the streets of wherever you are. Now I find that having a 70 to 200 millimeter zoom allows me to change my zoom according to the situation that I'm in. I'm always looking for kind of interesting characters that are kind of coming towards me, and of course, the light. I'm probably going to look for a place that's got great light and that's where I'll begin my solution to this challenge.
You got to shoot a lot because things are moving really quickly. And sometimes when people are coming towards me, I might just hold the camera down. Because if they see me, in my experience they're often going to sort of cover. They're not really interested in being photographed. So, I kind of wait until it's too late. Keep the camera up and bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. I'm not editing in the camera. I'm going to look later. I'm shooting a lot, and I'm hopeful that my solution is going to be a shot that I could be proud of. So, I'm really looking forward to see what you guys are going to post. So, get out there, isolate your subject with a telephoto lens.
And I'm going to show you my solution in the next movie.
