Adding props to a set

The topic of props for your food photos could be a whole course within itself. There is so much to look at and talk about and take in when thinking about props for your images. I think this is also one of the more individual aspects of the food photographer, your choice of props. The question is, where do we start when thinking about where and what kind of props do we want to use in our photo? First of all, I'd want to define what we were talking about when we refer to props. To me, it would cover the following: utensils, napkins, tablecloths, dishware which covers all types of sizes and colors, and various types of glasses, whether for water or drink, cooking utensils, condiment dispensers.
