You've accidentally erased or formatted a memory card

It's a horrible feeling. You look down at your camera, and three days of vacation shots are gone. You've accidentally erased them. What do you do? The first thing is, don't panic. It's probably going to be okay. The pictures are still on your memory card, you just can't see them. The second thing do not take any more pictures. If you take new pictures on on that memory card, it will push off the old ones. So, you don't want to do that. Substitute the memory card that has been quote, unquote erased with a fresh memory card for subsequent shots. Third, when you get back to the hotel room or to your home, run recovery software on the memory card that has been erased, and chances are very good that you will recover all of your photos. So, take a deep breath, change your memory card, and know everything is going to be just all right.
