From the course: The Traveling Photographer: Dubai

Welcome to Dubai

- Today we're in what can only be described as one of the most ultramodern, over the top cities in the world. I'm David Hobby for The Traveling Photographer. Welcome to Dubai. Located in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is the home of a seemingly endless collection of ultramodern skyscrapers. One of them, the Burj Khalifa, is the tallest building in the world. Built on oil money, Dubai now counts tourism and finance among its largest sources of revenue. If you're a photo enthusiast who enjoys travel, Dubai should be on your shortlist. In addition to the insane architecture, Dubai also has a huge expat population. Everybody here is from somewhere else And they all brought their food and their culture. So it's a great place to visit for those reasons too. We are lucky enough to be visiting during Photo Week, which makes it even better. Each year, in late winter, photographers from around the world gather for a week of classes and experiences and socializing. An event that takes an already great city and makes it much more accessible for photographers. I'm traveling with mirrorless cameras again, but in addition to my Fuji X100S, I'm also bringing a Fuji X-T1, with a couple lenses to allow me to go very wide for architecture and closer in for people. But still, we're traveling light. We'll be focusing our energy on shooting some architectural landscapes, a culture event or two, and great food. But before that, let's take a look at the things you need to know before you come here.
