Shooting test exposures
- I've come inside because quite honestly it's freezing outside, in fact, it is so far below freezing that we just needed to warm up a bit, but we've gone through some of our test exposures, and I'd like to explain the process to you. How we came up with the right shot? A lot of times with long exposure nighttime photography it's just that, long exposure. You take a shot, it could easily take 40 seconds, maybe a minute for that shot to happen, and then if you're using in-camera noise reduction, it may take twice as long for the shot to get cleaned up. So each test exposure could be a couple of minutes experience. In the case of the cold here, that's just downright frigid. As I was making a test exposure, I had the CamRanger unit here. Essentially we connected the CamRanger using the USB port to a Wi-Fi connection and using the iPad, I was able to make adjustments right here inside the Cam.
