- There are a lot of cool places to shoot in New York City, but the fact that I'm looking to create a coherent group of black and white photos from this trip, will help me narrow down my options. Because that's exactly what shooting to a specific idea does. So I'm headed to East 42nd Street and Park Avenue to make photos in Grand Central Terminal. It's also commonly known as Grand Central Station, and it's one of the best example of Beaux-Arts architecture in the United states. This style of building was popular around the turn of the 20th century, and features such elements as grand entrances, staircases, open interior spaces, and lots of symmetry. Plus, the ceiling in the main concourse of Grand Central is 125 feet tall. Upon entering from the South portal, I went left toward the West staircase, which would give a fantastic and centered view of the main concourse.
