- So if you're like us, when you're on the road, you don't feel totally secure without having your tools with you. We like to bring a Leatherman, which has just about everything we need. Unfortunately, if you're coming to the U.K., it also has a knife blade on it, and they are really strict about knives here, even blades as small as three and a half inches, which includes your Leatherman blade. So, what I'm gonna suggest instead: leave that at home and bring something small. What I like is a Swiss+Tech Micro-Tech. They're very small, they clip right on your keyring, they don't have a knife, but they've got all the critical stuff that we need as photographers. Often, sadly, we need a little pair of pliers for taking a tripod bolt off, but it also has things like a Phillips screwdriver, which is important in the big and the small size.
