Parting thoughts about New York City

- I've been to New York City many times over the previous 20 years, and every time I've come here, I've been visiting Manhattan, so I stayed in Manhattan. In retrospect, I now think that was a mistake. The biggest impression, the biggest takeaway from this week is how much more stress-free it is to stay just outside of the city if you're visiting the city. I can't speak for everywhere around New York, but I can suggest the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. It was absolutely wonderful. In specific, we were near the Bergen Street metro, so if you're staying near that stop, you're going to be in a great place. Park Slope is a human scaled, organic, residential, wonderful place to exist for a week. It's the perfect antidote to spending the day in the city. And frankly, it's not very far from some of the places where we spent the most of our time, down around the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge. The Brooklyn Bridge Park is a photographer's dream. Plenty of space, they're tripod-friendly…
