Getting there and knowing where to stay

- There are lots of ways to arrive in New York City, and since it's served by three airports, JFK, Newark, and LaGuardia, your transport options for the airport into the city would depend on where your flight lands. Each will have budget options, and as always, the choice will be cost versus time and convenience. Since I live on the eastern seaboard of the U.S., I'm taking the train in. If this is an option for you, I would recommend it over flying, hands down. In addition to avoiding the hassle of airline security, the train has much more leg room, power outlets at every seat, and even WiFi on board. For some reason, I always find train rides to be far more relaxing than flying on a plane, but then there are days when I find root canals to be more relaxing than flying on a plane. Catching your first sight of Freedom Tower when approaching New York is always exciting, but always a reminder of the Twin Towers that used to be there, but no longer are.
