And finally we get to the S in HIPS which stands for sharpness. What we're going to do is examine the shot that we took in the field and make sure we got it right. Now I took multiple exposures, one second, eight tenths, six tenths, half a second. These are great choices for me to have when I bring these back in the light room. Eight tenths looks really good to me in the field, so I'm going to go ahead and review that image. With the back of the camera, I have the image popping up on the screen. I then have the ability to zoom in times ten and navigate and go from corner to corner. With the use of a hoodman loop, I can look through and isolate the scene. I don't have the waterfall distracting me, the foliage around me, I'm just focused on checking each aspect of the image and I've found something. Down in the lower left corner, there's are a couple of leaves that are being moved by the action of the water. This is something I didn't see before, but now in the reviewing of the image it…
