The best way to get started in digital painting is to explore the options you have available with the tools you already own. Throughout this course, I'll be working from an image of a still life that I set up in my own home. The still life that you see here in the background is very similar to the set up that I used. To start with, I just grabbed a few items from around my home and set them up with a simple backdrop. This doesn't require any additional investment and gives you a great place to start developing your digital painting skills. In addition to the still life, you'll want to look at what input device options you have and what software you might want to work with. I'll show you a range of options from the iPad, with an inexpensive painting app, to the higher end tablet options working in Painter and Photoshop. Once I introduce you to some of the tools, I'll spend the rest of the course in the software applications, demonstrating a variety of artistic and expressive concepts. By the end of this course, I hope that you'll feel confident in taking the tools you have at hand in applying the fundamentals to start expressing your own creative vision in the world of digital painting
